In one of the hardest-hitting NXT Championship Matches in recent memory, Aleister Black managed to wrest the title from devious brawler Andrade “Cien” Almas, though not before the champion and challenger beat each other black and blue over the course of 20 minutes in a battle that saw each Superstar empty the entirety of their proverbial bag of tricks.

For Black, that was the blistering kicks and strikes — to say nothing of his otherworldly presence — he uses to clear the way for his ironclad Black Mass kick to the face. Standing opposite the same man he defeated in his NXT televised debut one year prior, Black picked up where he left off, raining punishment down upon the champion at every possible opportunity. All that El Ídolo could do was try to dodge Black Mass by hook or by crook, as Black’s multifaceted offense made him tough for the champion to pin down.

This is not to say Almas was helpless in the contest — his targeting of Black’s arm to set up the Hammerlock DDT was expert — but it’s no secret that Almas’ business manager Zelina Vega has been the cornerstone upon which his reinvention and title reign were built. Her presence paid dividends in Almas’ matches against the likes of Drew McIntyre and Johnny Gargano in prior months, and it did so again in New Orleans. Vega interfered no less than four times in the title match: administering a pair of hurricanranas to Black that stopped him in his tracks, placing Almas’ foot on the ropes after the challenger landed Black Mass, and tying Black’s ankle up on the ropes — a maneuver that allowed the champion to place his opponent in the Tree of Woe and execute a massive double-stomp.

Unfortunately for El Ídolo, Black slowly wised up to the champion’s game as the match went long. So when Vega went for her boldest interference yet — a crossbody off the top rope after Black kicked out of the Hammerlock DDT — the challenger simply ducked, leaving Almas to catch Vega in his arms and spin unwittingly straight into the path of Black Mass. Three seconds later, Black was the winner; fittingly, he becomes the lucky 13th man to hold the NXT Championship. Now, the devil is finally off his back, and anyone wishing to enter the NXT promised land must first pass the cross-legged demon sitting at its gates.

Aleister Black claims to be neither saint nor sinner, but he may just be the most dangerous force in NXT.

The tattooed enigma continued to tear through the competition, but this time did it under Extreme circumstances against one of the most celebrated competitors in the world.

Adam Cole was the first to go for a weapon in this Extreme Rules Match, but Black dodged Cole’s swinging chair strike, kicking the leader of Undisputed ERA from the ring.

This Extreme Rules clash quickly lived up to its name when Cole superkicked a chair into the face of Black, who then fell from the second rope through two tables outside the ring.

Somehow that wasn’t enough to keep Black down for the three-count, who fought back with his own Extreme assault, slamming Cole on the top of the backs of two chairs.

Black followed this up with a running knee, slamming a chair into Cole’s face only to have his subsequent pinfall attempt interrupted by Cole’s Undisputed ERA partners Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly.

The NXT Tag Team Champions looked to inflict further damage to Black, but SAnitY arrived looking for retribution. Alexander Wolfe & Eric Young evened the odds before Killian Dain destroyed those odds with a dive through the ropes on top of the NXT Tag Team titleholders and his own SAnitY cohorts.

On the other side of the ring, Black soared above Cole, literally stomping The Panama City Playboy through the announce table.

As both embattled competitors climbed back into the squared circle, Cole delivered a superkick to Black, laying him out cold. Cole then went for the final blow via steel chair strike, but Black out of nowhere sprung up to his feet to nail his Black Mass kick for the pinfall.

With another impactful victory to his name – and over one of the greatest wrestlers in the world to boot – what’s next for Aleister Black?

Say hello to Aleister Black. He’s mean, he’s hungry and he has beaten the cockiness right out of Andrade “Cien” Almas in his NXT debut at TakeOver: Orlando.

To his credit, Almas was patient and wary around his mysterious foe, taking care to weaken Black with a series of armbars. For all his arrogance, El Ídolo clearly had Black well-scouted: Not only did Almas shake off most of Black’s offense, he seemed to have the match in hand after hitting his signature running knees in the corner.

Black, however, roared back in decisive fashion, administering a series of boots that brought Almas to his knees. Black then slowly, deliberately, used the toe of his boot to pick Almas up by the chin before administering his signature spinning kick, Black Mass.

Preview to Aleister Black vs Andrade “cien” Almas
By: admin       03/30/17      Category: NXT, Takeover, WWE

The mysterious Aleister Black will make his highly anticipated debut at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, when he faces Andrade “Cien” Almas.

For weeks, cryptic videos on WWE Network have heralded the arrival of Black. Little is known about the shadowy figure seen in the videos, but based on the latest missive, he seems to possess a devastating arsenal of strikes. Black sounds intent on changing the NXT Universe’s perception of what a Superstar can be, declaring that the old ways are obsolete.

His opponent, Almas, has become more aggressive inside the squared circle in recent weeks, adopting a new attitude and bullying his opposition at will. His aggression continues outside the ring, where he has promised to make the newcomer believe in “El Idolo.”

Can the fierce Almas back up his words in the squared circle, or will NXT’s newest Superstar ensure Almas fades to black? Find out at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, streaming live this Saturday at 8 ET/5 PT, only on the award-winning WWE Network!
