Aleister Black claims to be neither saint nor sinner, but he may just be the most dangerous force in NXT.
The tattooed enigma continued to tear through the competition, but this time did it under Extreme circumstances against one of the most celebrated competitors in the world.
Adam Cole was the first to go for a weapon in this Extreme Rules Match, but Black dodged Cole’s swinging chair strike, kicking the leader of Undisputed ERA from the ring.
This Extreme Rules clash quickly lived up to its name when Cole superkicked a chair into the face of Black, who then fell from the second rope through two tables outside the ring.
Somehow that wasn’t enough to keep Black down for the three-count, who fought back with his own Extreme assault, slamming Cole on the top of the backs of two chairs.
Black followed this up with a running knee, slamming a chair into Cole’s face only to have his subsequent pinfall attempt interrupted by Cole’s Undisputed ERA partners Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly.
The NXT Tag Team Champions looked to inflict further damage to Black, but SAnitY arrived looking for retribution. Alexander Wolfe & Eric Young evened the odds before Killian Dain destroyed those odds with a dive through the ropes on top of the NXT Tag Team titleholders and his own SAnitY cohorts.
On the other side of the ring, Black soared above Cole, literally stomping The Panama City Playboy through the announce table.
As both embattled competitors climbed back into the squared circle, Cole delivered a superkick to Black, laying him out cold. Cole then went for the final blow via steel chair strike, but Black out of nowhere sprung up to his feet to nail his Black Mass kick for the pinfall.
With another impactful victory to his name – and over one of the greatest wrestlers in the world to boot – what’s next for Aleister Black?

After a year filled with heartbreak, betrayal, and setbacks that threatened to throw his career off-track, Johnny Gargano ended 2017 on the highest note imaginable. With the NXT Universe cheering him on, the beloved Johnny Wrestling prevailed in an utterly wild Fatal 4-Way Match against three of NXT’s most dominant Superstars — Lars Sullivan, Aleister Black, and Killian Dain — to earn an NXT Title Match against Andrade “Cien” Almas at TakeOver: Philadelphia.
The rip-roaring brawl was all-out action from the opening bell. Sullivan displayed his immense power early by catching a moonsault and a dive to the floor by Black and Gargano, respectively. Yet, when the 322-pound Beast of Belfast took flight with a dive of his own, Sullivan had no choice but to crumble under Dain’s weight.
The fight spilled up the ramp, where Sullivan, now recovered from Dain’s leap of faith, press-slammed Gargano off the stage onto Black. The Colorado monster’s subsequent attempt to put Johnny Wrestling through the announce desk was thwarted, and Sullivan soon found himself under attack by Dain again, this time with the SAnitY heavyweight jumping off the stage and splashing Sullivan through the table.
More big hits flew once the battle re-entered the ring. After tagging Dain and Sullivan with his signature strikes, the Dutch destroyer appeared to be on the verge of victory until Undisputed ERA made their presence felt in the No-Disqualification Match. First, NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly pulled Black to the floor, only to have the mercurial Superstar handle them with ease. Undisputed ERA frontman Adam Cole, looking for payback for his loss to Black in a Qualifying Match, then attacked the sinister striker, dropping him with a neckbreaker onto his knee.
Never one to let an injustice go unanswered, Gargano lept to Black’s aid, tackling Cole with a suicide dive. He then spun Dain into Sullivan, smashing them into the steel steps and effectively taking out both hosses before returning his focus to Black. Gargano spiked Black with a slingshot DDT and pinned him, ending Black’s undefeated streak and causing the NXT Universe to erupt in chants of “Johnny Wrestling.”
Battered and bruised, Gargano savored the moment as the realization sunk in that an NXT Championship opportunity against Almas, which once seemed so far-fetched, is now guaranteed.

Aleister’s Black first time speaking in front of the NXT Universe didn’t disappoint as he recalled his 15-year journey to NXT and the “scars” that tell his story.
Black’s first words in front of the NXT fans at Full Sail University were clear and concise, but before he could finish his message, he was interrupted by The Velveteen Dream.
The Dream proceeded to break down the dark and shadowy Superstar, going as far as to call Black “afraid.” Before the flamboyant Superstar’s critique could continue, Black kicked the microphone right out of The Dream’s hand.
Black immediately dropped to the mat in his signature seated pose, but The Dream was not intimidated. Instead, the sensual Superstar got on his knees and leaned in close to Black before effortlessly sliding out of the ring, without as much as a flinch from Black.
The tense encounter had the NXT Universe on the edge of their seats as they wondered what’s next for these two vastly different personalities.

The mysterious Aleister Black will make his highly anticipated debut at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, when he faces Andrade “Cien” Almas.
For weeks, cryptic videos on WWE Network have heralded the arrival of Black. Little is known about the shadowy figure seen in the videos, but based on the latest missive, he seems to possess a devastating arsenal of strikes. Black sounds intent on changing the NXT Universe’s perception of what a Superstar can be, declaring that the old ways are obsolete.
His opponent, Almas, has become more aggressive inside the squared circle in recent weeks, adopting a new attitude and bullying his opposition at will. His aggression continues outside the ring, where he has promised to make the newcomer believe in “El Idolo.”
Can the fierce Almas back up his words in the squared circle, or will NXT’s newest Superstar ensure Almas fades to black? Find out at NXT TakeOver: Orlando, streaming live this Saturday at 8 ET/5 PT, only on the award-winning WWE Network!
