Aleister Black vs Lio Rush didn’t end up happening as Velveteen Dream came out and attacked Lio in an attempt to get Black’s attention.

Aleister’s Black first time speaking in front of the NXT Universe didn’t disappoint as he recalled his 15-year journey to NXT and the “scars” that tell his story.

Black’s first words in front of the NXT fans at Full Sail University were clear and concise, but before he could finish his message, he was interrupted by The Velveteen Dream.

The Dream proceeded to break down the dark and shadowy Superstar, going as far as to call Black “afraid.” Before the flamboyant Superstar’s critique could continue, Black kicked the microphone right out of The Dream’s hand.

Black immediately dropped to the mat in his signature seated pose, but The Dream was not intimidated. Instead, the sensual Superstar got on his knees and leaned in close to Black before effortlessly sliding out of the ring, without as much as a flinch from Black.

The tense encounter had the NXT Universe on the edge of their seats as they wondered what’s next for these two vastly different personalities.

It’s hard to tell which blow was the harshest for Kassius Ohno: The collision of expectation and reality, or the wallop that Aleister Black’s boot put on his face.

Ohno put himself in the situation of getting clocked and pinned by Black, who remains undefeated in NXT competition on WWE Network. He was out to prove to himself that he’s a main player in NXT and, by asking General Manager William Regal to give him a challenge, show Hideo Itami that there’s a befitting way to move past setbacks. With Black, Ohno got his wish.

They shook hands and traded holds at the start of the match, revealing their mutual respect hadn’t faded since the days that Ohno helped train Black. However, it wasn’t long before the intensity kicked up a notch, thanks to a rough chop from Ohno, and NXT’s two premier strikers began bludgeoning the spirit out of each other.

NXT’s Knockout Artist put Black to the test. He landed big hits and, in between, even dared to mock his opponent. The antics seemed to backfire, though, as Black angrily stomped Ohno. In the end, it was a brutal and quick-moving exchange that ended with Ohno attempting the Rolling Elbow, only to be met by the Black Mass spinning heel kick. It wasn’t easy this time, but NXT’s serene striker made another Superstar fade to black.

Raw Superstar Curt Hawkins came to NXT to try to even the score with the competitor who recently topped him on WWE Main Event, Aleister Black. Unfortunately for the self-proclaimed “Captain of the Star Factory,” his fate was no different than anyone else who has tried his luck against Black.

Employing a variety of strikes, the eerily composed Black connected with a high-flying quebrada before polishing off Hawkins with his Black Mass spinning heel kick, much to the delight of the sold-out Allstate Arena.

Aleister Black again emerged from the darkness just long enough to trounce the competition. In this case, Cezar Bononi, a WWE Performance Center standout from São Paolo, Brazil, was the unfortunate soul. After enduring a brief flurry from the 6-foot-6 Bononi, Black showed incredible speed and intuition, deftly dodging a series of strikes before landing two knees of his own and dropping Bononi with Black Mass.

Hideo Itami and Aleister Black defeated Bobby Roode and Cien Andrade Almas. Almas took the a GTS to the gut and was pinned by Itami.
